EOC summer choral week
11.-18.7.2010
in Nové Hrady, Czech Republic
From 11th-18th July 2010 we will have our summer meeting in Nové Hrady, a beautifully located small town in Southern Bohemia near the border with Austria. Under the approved direction of Prof. Schreyer and Wolfgang Saus we are again expecting exciting choral works, soundscapes and improvisations, developing a combination of overtone singing and classical choral music.
Anyone with choir experience is welcome. Additional experience in overtone singing would of course be ideal, but the necessary vocal techniques can be learned during the week even by the inexperienced. The choir is made up of the 16-60 participants who attend the respective project. The repertoire will be presented in a final concert in the Novohradské znenie festivals.
The cultural mediation role of the overtones as a common sound source of all spoken languages is the focus of the project. Joint activities complete the rehearsal program and help to build international friendship. The choir language is English, being translated, if necessary, into German and Czech.
Costs
400 EUR - incl course, including seven nights in a double room with breakfast in the Residence Hotel (including sauna, swimming pool, etc.), including lunch and dinner.
Affordable alternative: For a maximum of 10 participants, there is the option of accommodation in a low-cost group accommodation, with own sleeping bag, own mattress. The fee goes down to 250 EUR - incl course, including group accommodation, including lunch and dinner. If you want to take care of your food on your own, you can even participate for 195 EUR - incl course, including group accommodation. The group accommodation places are assigned in order of registration.
For Participants from Macedonia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Slovakia, Portugal, Estonia, Malta, Czech Republic is a reduced price of 250 EUR (6500 CZK) - incl course, 7 nights in a double room with breakfast in the Residence Hotel (including sauna, swimming pool, etc.) including lunch and dinner.
Low-cost alternative is for participants from these countries: For more than 10 participants is the possibility of accommodation in a low-cost group accommodation, with own sleeping bag, own mattress: 100 EUR (2560 CZK) - including course, including group accommodation, including lunch and dinner. If you want to take care of your food on your own, you can even participate for 65 EUR (1700 CZK) - incl course, including group accommodation. The group accommodation places are assigned in order of registration.
Program
On the first day of the meeting, all new participants will sing with our choir directors. We thus get a detailed picture of the group. During the week it is possible that we rehearsed in small groups of comparably singers.
Rehearsals we be in the hotel and the nearby music school. There are two daily rehearsal blocks and several workshop dealing with specific themes. Leisure activities, we will then consult on the spot. Last year we visited the local historical blacksmith, had a guided tour in the monastery. The bike tour is in very good memory. Swimming pool and sauna are a daily meeting place after the rehearsals, before we met in the pizzeria for a beer and relaxed singing.
As in recent years at the end of our choir meeting in Nove Hrady ther is a festival for overtone and new world music (on http://www.alikvotnifestival.cz/). As part of this festival, we will perform with the choir at the end of the chorus week. Here is the festival program.
Getting there
Arrival is on Sunday afternoon. The week ends with a joint breakfast meeting on the following Sunday. The arrival and departure must be planned and paid independently (travel to Linz or Prague are recommended). We are happy to assist in the formation of car pools to help. From Prague it is convenient railway and bus connections to Nové Hrady. Mila and Adela are looking up connections for you.
Accommodation
The four-star Wellness Hotel Residence (http://www.rezidencenh.cz/de/) gives a choir discount (included in the participation fee of 400 EUR). The accommodation at the Hotel Residence includes the use of swimming pool, salt grotto, steam bath, whirlpool and sauna. As the number of beds reserved is limited. You should subscribe as soon as possible.
In addition to the accommodation in the hotel it is possible for a limited number of participants to sleep in the much less expensive shared accommodation Kozeluzna in a sleeping bag, on the own air mattress. There is no shower.
