About the meeting
From Sunday, 29. August to Sunday, 5. September 2010, the Fall Rehearsal 2010 of the European Overtone Choir will take place in Štirín, about 25km from Prague. We will reside in a noble baroque castle. Under the direction of Prof. Schreyer and Wolfgang Saus we will once again rehearse choir pieces, soundscapes and improvisations that will form a bridge from overtone singing to classical choir music. The established repertoire will be presented on Saturday at the final concert as part of the Pražské Znení festival in Prague.
The EOC is a project choir consisting of the 16 to 60 participants of the choir week. The cultural role of overtones as a sound source common to all languages is a source of inspiration for this project. Common extracurricular activities complement the rehearsals and help to form international friendships. The choir language will be English, with translations to German and Czech offered where necessary.
Program
On the first day of the meeting, all new participants will audition with our conductor so that he can get an overview of the group and assign the voices. During the week, small groups of singers at comparable levels might rehearse together. The conductor will assign the voices for the final concert.
Rehearsals will take place in the concert hall of the castle. Traditionally they will be complemented in the afternoon with workshops about the voice, singing techniques and sound color.
During the week we will organize a visit to Prague with a travel guide. The area around Štirín also has some interesting places to visit, for example the brewery Velké Popovice with excellent beer and its own restaurant.
At the end of the choir week we will sing in Prague at the festival „Pražské Znění 2010“ (http://www.alikvotnifestival.cz/) in the gothic hall.
